Yes, I know it's been a long time. Yes, I know I intended to be in touch before now. It's just...well...you know how these things go...
2010 just wasn't my year - although a lot of good things happened as well. I knew I didn't want to do a review of the year or set out my hopes for 2011. But I also knew that I wanted to take 2011 by the horns and hold on for dear life as it did its best to test me...
After waking with a hangover on New Year's Day, I decided to give the drink a rest. Looked forward to a restful night's sleep and no bad head in the morning. Sipped water and laughed at Father Ted Night on C4 - revelling in the glorious silliness of one of my favourite comedy shows ever. (I even teach some Philosophy through it).
Went to bed before 'Kicking Bishop Brennan up the A**e'. Was very tired. Lay in bed waiting for sleep. Odd aches in my shoulders, which I put down to my bad posture. Sleep fitfully and finally gave up when the gut pains started at eight o'clock Jan 2nd.
Then the vomiting. Then the fever. Then the unmentionable toilet movements. Welcome Gastric Flu - thanks for helping me kick off 2011 in the most positive fashion.
On day 3 now. Head still feels like an oversized, underfilled balloon. Cramps have stopped. Toilet movements - well you don' t really want to know, do you, dear reader?
Welcome to 2011 - things can only get better from here, can't they? CAN'T THEY?

Good to see you back. And yes, 2011 will get better!
Thanks Helen. It's nice to be back. Glad to hear that your subbing is going well. Hope it stays as productive.

oh, stephen. you haven't learned from my fate-tempting incident of new year's day 2010, have you?? ;)
read here. 2010 ended better then it begun but it took, oooh, about 10 months to properly start improving. fate has a nasty, nasty sense of humour.
i hope you haven't cursed your 2011 like i cursed my 2010 :)
Darling B,
I don't think anything could curse 2011 like 2010 did. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that 2011 is kinder to you and hubby. I don't believe in fate, just that things happened. I'm so glad about your news. I hope things continue good, even if you did kill Pete Postlethwaite. (if it helps, I killed Larry Grayson in a similar manner in the late 90s.)

thank you stephen :) i don't usually believe in fate, although i sometimes do. usually when things happen with cruel timing!
anyway, thank you. and i'm glad to know i'm not the only one to have inadvertently killed a celeb :)
